Ryanair has said that its fares are set to plummet by up to 12% during the forthcoming winter season.
The Irish low-cost carrier has triggered a price war with rivals such as easyJet by slashing fares for winter 2016/17.
Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said that average airfares are likely to drop by 10-12% in the six months running through to March 2017.
The airline’s policy of dropping prices to fill their seats helped it to increase traffic by 13% to 10.8 million passengers in September while load factor went up by one percentage point to 95% during the month compared to September 2015.
Over the last 12 months, Ryanair’s traffic has gone up by 16% to 113.2 million passengers.
