Club Med’s European resorts given boost by recent snow

Late bookings driven by “remarkable” snow conditions across Europe have boosted Club Med’s total sales by more than a quarter this season.

"We continue to be extremely proud of our unique all-inclusive ski offering and our year-on-year results continue to show how our clients value the exclusive experience we provide on the slopes during the winter season."

Club Med said total sales for winter 2017-18 were up 26% on last year and 39% on winter 2015-16 after the season got off to an “incredibly strong start” compared with last year.

Total bookings are up 71% and online bookings 127%. Club Med said it expects this trend to continue for the rest of the season.

French destinations continue to prove popular with British skiers: Club Med bookings to Tignes are up 30% on last year; Val d’Isere 15%; and Val Thorens 10%. Bookings to Pagelato in Italy are up 21% on last year.

Meanwhile, the operator said its new flagship resort, Grand Massif Samoens in France, is among its top five performing ski resorts of the year.

It has also committed to opening a new resort in the French Alps every year until 2021.

Next season, Les Arcs Panorama will open within Paradiski – a contemporary four-Trident resort with high-end accommodation.

Further afield, Club Med opened a second resort in Tomamu, Japan, last December with 29 slopes and nearly 20 miles of piste.

Estelle Giraudeau, managing director Club Med UK and Scandinavia, said: “Our customers see the value in all-inclusive ski holidays where everything is included and paid for upfront.

“This protects customers against ever-fluctuating exchange rates and hidden costs with the simple security of a low deposit.

“We continue to be extremely proud of our unique all-inclusive ski offering and our year-on-year results continue to show how our clients value the exclusive experience we provide on the slopes during the winter season.

“The 2017-18 results to date lay strong foundations ahead of two of our most exciting ski resort openings to date.”
