The conference takes place on January 19 and 20 at London’s Olympia, alongside the Adventure Travel Show, which is the longest- established consumer show in the adventure sector.
Launched in 2013, the ATC brings together tour operators, travel agents, tourist boards and other relevant organisations with a focus on marketing insight, best practice, and trends within the sector.
New for 2017 is a supplier marketplace where destinations, DMCs and accommodation providers can meet with adventure travel buyers for one-on-one scheduled meetings.
This takes place on the Thursday afternoon, after a morning of seminars and workshops addressing the silver and solo traveller markets, and a media panel with leading editors.
In the evening, the inaugural Adventure Travel Awards winners will be announced, recognising companies and individuals in five categories, including one for travel agents.
Agents or agencies that have grown their adventure travel sales this year are encouraged to nominate themselves, or can be nominated by tour operator partners.
On the Friday, conference sessions tackling the issues and opportunities within adventure travel will feature speakers including Hans Lagerweij, Tui’s adventure travel division;
Justin Wateridge, Steppes Travel; and Wanderlust’s Phoebe Smith, and will also see the release of the results of the annual Adventure Travel Survey across agents, operators, tourist boards and consumers.
Agents are invited to complete the agent survey to receive a free, complete copy of the findings (adventuretravelconference.co.uk/ survey).
“We’re thrilled to have been able to extend the conference to two days, and to be able to create an even wider and more in-depth programme of sessions,” said
Lyn Hughes, editor-in-chief of Wanderlust magazine, the consumer media partner for the show and conference.
“Adventure travel, from weekend hiking trips through expedition cruises, is the fastest-growing and the most resilient sector in travel,” she added.
“Since ATC’s inception in 2013, there has been overwhelming support for the conference from the industry.
“It really has become the must- attend for operators, retailers, and any other stakeholders within the burgeoning adventure travel market.”
