The Langham London has opened a pub with a twist, designed by Martin Brudnizki and boasting a menu by Michel Roux Jr.
Called The Wigmore, the high-end “modern British tavern” sits on the corner of Regent Street and opens today to the public.
Hailed as a “deluxe re-imagining of the great British pub”, The Wigmore will serve drinks created by the same award-winning team as Artesian, the hotel’s bar. There will also be The Wigmore’s own house beer, Saison, brewed in partnership with Bermondsey’s Brew by Numbers.
Located in the former banking hall area of the hotel, the space has been transformed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and the arrival of The Wigmore also sees the hotel’s Chuan Spa moved downstairs.
The spa has been closed since January and will unveil a new look as the Chuan Body + Soul day spa including three additional treatment rooms and a new gym in August.
At The Wigmore, Michel Roux Jr’s menu will be classic British pub fare upgraded, such as Balvenie-whisky smoked salmon; ox-cheek and ale pie; and snacks such as Masala spiced scotch egg, dahl relish and Stovetop cheese toastie.
Two separate, semi-private areas have been incorporated into the pub and there is also a traditional ‘Snug’ area.
The opening of The Wigmore and the relocation and expansion of the spa marks the conclusion of a run of developments at the hotel, which opened in 1865.
